October 5th - November 6th 2023

Long before I made my first rip, the curiosity of collage began while at university when I saw the work of conceptual artist John Stezaker. I was captivated by his layering of only two pieces of paper that told a new story. My attempts to accomplish Stezaker’s technique often failed.

February 2023 began with a beautiful layer of snow and my commitment to create a daily collage for an online challenge called Februllage. I simply wanted to experiment—to try new techniques and ideas with each word prompt. Circles began to emerge that first week which I attempted to include into each collage, along with an unexpected piece of paper, and my love of squiggles and thread.

I’m a night owl. The perfect fit as I searched, cut, assembled, pondered, reassembled, glued, and stitched late into the darkness. In hindsight, what a calming month. For any of you wanting to cut and glue, visit @februllage...which can lead you down a rabbit hole
