Vanessa Trenholm at Aubin & Associates

On , In Artscape, Aubin & Associates

In this exhibition, Vanessa Trenholm seeks to explore the delicate balance between creation and chaos—intuition versus control. She does so by building up multiple layers of acrylic paint, translucent rice paper, oil pastel, and ink, before cutting and tearing back into them to reveal a new image constructed from pieces and fragments of its former self. Questions about the conflicting values of feminine allure in art are also raised by searching for beauty under the surface through destruction of the facade.

Vanessa graduated with her Fine Arts degree from UBCO in 2015 and completed an internship at the Kelowna Art Gallery, where she now works as a Gallery Assistant and children’s art instructor. Her current work can be found at Studio 113 at the Rotary Centre for the Arts or online at
